چکیده
Arytenoidectomy, or the partial removal of arytenoid cartilage, is a surgical procedure performed to treat bilateral vocal fold immobility. It can widen posterior glottis, which important as an airway, and maintain voice quality more effectively than lateralization. In addition, it expected have permanent effect without possibility relapse due breakage traction threads subsequent infection. When opening glottis insufficient after arytenoidectomy for glottic stenosis, lateralization should be additionally performed.

Bilateral vocal fold immobility in children is a challenging problem because a balance between good airway and voice quality has to be achieved. Surgery to improve the airway is often postponed or avoided because of fear of losing the voice. In this study our results of laser arytenoidectomy in children are described. OBJECTIVES To analyze the diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in cases of bilateral vocal fold immobility seen at our...

A 77-year-old female with bilateral vocal cord paralysis and dependent tracheostomy status after total thyroidectomy presented to clinic for evaluation of decannulation via arytenoidectomy. Preliminary data suggests coblation versus standard CO2 laser ablation in arytenoidectomy may provide benefits in terms of decreased tissue necrosis and patient outcome. The patient elected to proceed with a...

IMPORTANCE Voice quality-of-life (VQOL) and perceptual voice outcomes are presumed to worsen following posterior cordotomy with medial arytenoidectomy for bilateral vocal fold immobility (BVFI); however, subjective and objective voice outcomes are not well studied in this postsurgical patient population. OBJECTIVE To evaluate VQOL and perceptual voice outcomes following posterior cordotomy wi...

Introduction. Treatment for bilateral vocal fold paralysis (BVFP) has evolved from external irreversible procedures to endolaryngeal laser surgery with greater focus on anatomic and functional preservation. Since the introduction of endolaryngeal laser arytenoidectomy, certain modifications have been described, such as partial resection procedures and mucosa sparing techniques as opposed to tot...
